Reminiscences and letter, 1892 and 1901.

Original and typewritten copy of reminiscences by John S. Harris of early La Crosse, Wisconsin, 1851-1857, written Jan. 7, 1901, in which he recounts his journey to and arrival in La Crosse where he found employment as a carpenter and in 1852 was appointed special deputy sheriff at the time of La Crosse's first murder. Also included is a letter from W. F. Sinclair to John S. Harris, dated Money Creek, Minnesota, March 22nd, 1892, recounting his involvement in the murder, in which William Watts murdered David Darst.
